Roxie <3

For my last post I decided to write it on our dog that my boyfriend and I just adopted :)

Her name is Roxie and she is one year old. We adopted her from the Washington County Humane Society. She is part rotweiler and we believe also lab. But we will find out when we take her to the vet for her check up. She is already trained and listens to commands. And you might be thinking, oh a rotweiler huh? Aren’t they known to be mean. Not this loveable gal. She is the biggest baby ever. We adopted her Sunday and was never apart from her for two days straight. Then yesterday we both had to work and it broke our hearts to leave her. She whined so much. And we even tried to get her to bark, and she wont! So, pure lover all the way. She is definitely a bed hog. Very playful, we took her to the park and played in the creek. She loved to finally be free. Its amazing how fast she connected with us. Truly is amazing. I’m so happy that we found her. The only problem we have right now is trying to get her to eat. She really isn’t found of some dry food, but being her size, it isnt good to just feed her canneed. So we’re working with her on that. So far, three different dry foods we have tried. We are lucky to have her though! :)

I am doing my piece on organic food vs. genetically modified food. I’m running into an obstacle here or there. I really cant find too many studies on which is better for you, nutrient wise. Non-organic does use the pesticides and chemicals so of course those arent good for you. But no studies are showing which one would be more nutritious. I mean which one sounds better to you anyways? Something grown from the earth naturally? Or somehting made in a lab, such as a tomato that has a certain fish gene in it so it wont freeze as easy. Does that really make you hunger? It doesn’t for me. Its isn’t so hard for me to find organic markets or stores around here in Pitt, which is actually making my paper pretty easy peasy. It is kinda hard to fit all this information that could cover the whole country.

This piece isn’t too much of a controversial one, but I think it could be argued.

“It is alarming,” agreed Bevi Powell, spokeswoman for AAA East Central, based in Pittsburgh. But she added that “more crashes happen due to inattention than a lack of knowledge.”

I agree. A lot of acccidents do happen because the lack of knowledge on who has the right-of-way or who is to yield, but also because the lack of attention people have while driving. I see women putting on make up while driving, who can honestly say they can do that and drive safe? That woman who recently hit another lady was going to get charged with DUI when she had one glass of wine, and it was under the legal limit. The reason she hit that lady was because she was paying attention to her kids and not the road. I’ve always said that after so many years though, everyone should take another drving test. Who is going to take their driving test when they’re 16, and remember it until they’re in their 40’s? Or even when you get to 60, 70, and 80? I just took mine four years ago, and I can honestly say I might not remember a few things already. So, America, if we are trying to preach safety while driving, why not provide the knowledge? It might be there, but why not make it mandatory? Maybe a test every 10 yrs ro so…?

Snob

Ugh, how can that girl sit there with all those papers scattered around her? Doesn’t she even know how to be organized? I saw her rushing to get her portfolio together. Such a procrastinator. She should be more like me…. Perfect. And look at that book she has with her… vampires? Honestly. Doesn’t she know they are so overrated? I mean Twilight, prime example. Those shoes she’s wearing, crocs?? What is wrong with her? She’s wearing shoes of an old lady. And always wearing that brown sweater that obviously doesn’t go with those hideous rubber shoes. She has a pretty face, such a shame to waste it on a girl like her. But that curly hair would have to go, especially with those highlights she obviously did on her own. Gross. Curly hair is so not in. I’m sure she could have been useful to my group of girls, if only she could be more sociable. Ha. Who am I kidding? She could never be one of us. I heard her over say she was interested in teaching kids before she came to this dreadful school. Who would want to spend all day with rug rats? Those kids are putrid. Disgusting. Smelling. Annoying. I can’t even believe it crossed my mind she could be one of us. I’m ashamed of myself. Yeah, right. I’m perfect. I just felt sorry for the poor girl. There she goes reading that stupid book again. And I can hear that hick, cousin-dating nonsense coming from her ear phones. Ugh. Girls should be more like me. Perfect.
